European Job Seeker: Hungary – part V

Finland is expensive. I could no longer afford to stay around. As my situation changed I headed on the next 8€ flight to Hungary. I was not able to land a single interview here, but time was not wasted.


I still took time to visit old friends throughout the country. At 2€ a night, I got to stay at a hostel within central Budapest. It was the first time in months I could actually afford to eat out. The food was incredible.

The hostel manager was great. I had the opportunity to chat with passing travelers as I heard of their own stories and adventures. From a man who couldn’t get bananas under soviet rule, to Korean exchange students and travelers from the US on vacation.

Time passed by and my 90 day limit was coming to an end.
